13-year-old Soo-ah lives with her mother. After her father passed away a few years ago, her mother runs a diner to support their living, and she's always too busy to have much time taking care of the adolescent daughter. Soo-ah does not approve the robust mother's hard living, because she thinks a popular singer is her real mother. Soo-ah loves to daydream about the real mother, watching the Pop singer's music videos. One day, Soo-ah decides to leave her home and go to Seoul for the Pop singer's concert. So she gets on the train, and meets a friend, and the two of them land in Seoul. But Soo-ah has no money to buy the concert ticket, so they wait at the back door until the show ends. Now Soo-ah hesitantly approaches the star, but...

That Difficult Age
The young and already accomplished actress Se-young Lee plays Soo-ah, a 13 year old girl who lives with her widowed mom in a town in Korea. Somewhat withdrawn and living in dreams, her main dream is that her real mom is a famous pop singer. She daydreams about her speaking directly to her. Soo-ah falls in with a delinquent schoolgirl, and after a tense argument with her mom, blurts out that she is not her real mom. She runs away on a train to Seoul to see her "real mom" at a concert and be with her. Se-young Lee is a major talent. She speaks volumes with her expressions. You want her to be happy and well adjusted, so you get to understand the depths of her longing for something different. The pace is kind of slow moving, but thats necessary. Some of the cinematography is wonderful, and the films becomes not only better with time, but heartwarming and emotional in all the right ways. Good acting by everyone else, terrific job by Se-young Lee. Highly recommended.
