Warm Texas Rain (2000) Reviews

  • GRADE: A "B" as "B" movies go...

It's a B movie, so one should not expect Oscar material here. But as B movies go it is quite entertaining, with some good fight scenes, high quality sex and solid acting, despite a seen-before script. Frankie Thorn and Steven Bauer turn in nice performances. You'll see Thorn again, I promise.

  • not bad

Steve Bauer continues to stay persistent in starring in movies. In this movie he is tempted in to doing a job for Jim Metzler. Unfortunately he gets a surprise as realises that everything is not what meets the eye. The movie has a very b grade style to it. The duration is short however the plot is very routine and it is been there done that material. Performances are to standard and the direction is not too bad. I think the plot twists were very predictable. The performances were good especially Metzler. He gave an honest attempt to play his character. Bauer was just about exceptable. Maybe if another director took on this movie the outcome would have been substantially better.

  • "Warm Rain" is really slush.

Come on, let's face it, why would a good looking guy go for the likes of such an unattractive dame in a bar? He must be desperate. I won't go into the plot, not worth it. Usual boring story about a guy sucked into a scheme by a supposedly beautiful dame, played in a boring way by Frankie Thorn. Typical film noir stuff. But this gal ain't Jane Greer or Mary Astor. This is where I found the film ridiculous. Steven Bauer, whom I liked as the victim, and a Stuart Whitman type, for some reason fell prey to this woman of the night. Along the way there's some shady characters who come in and out of the plot. When our leading lady, in the final scene, shows her real self alongside of her lesbian lover, you really don't give a damn. The only satisfaction I had was to see our hero pull the wool over her eyes and get the money in the end. The director was Daniel Rogosin, who did what he could with what he had in a leading lady. Screenplay, written by Paul and Sharon Boorstin, would have done better with different casting. Funny, almost right after this nothing film, what appears on the screen? Robert Mitchim, Jane Greer and Kirk Douglas in "Out of the Past" an excellent "B" film noir piece. It made up for Warm Texas Rain. By the way, I love the title of this movie.

well, steven bauer is very charismatic. frankie thorn seems very disturbed at herself for being in this movie, but hey maybe she needed the money. She seems more like an alien from another planet than a mistress type.i hate this kind of b movie, I don't know what the point to it all is. you know the sex is not real, I wonder if the rain was? I hated this movie although the cast is talented, and hopefully moving upward and onward to better things....

Firstly, this movie was the biggest pile of nonsense that I have ever seen. Who are they trying to fool by casting Steven Bauer in a tough guy role? The barfight scene was a complete joke, with Bauer beating and killing the enormous bar patron. It was like pitting Pee Wee Herman against Evander Holyfield. If you could actually see beyond that nonsense, the sex scenes were adequate, if not way too frequent. It seems that the sex scenes were shot first, and the storyline was pieced together around them. The buddy theme between Bauer and Mandylore also became a bit much by the end of the movie as well. All in all, I don't mind B movies, but this one had me continually checking to see how many minutes were left in the movie so I could actually get to the climax. And even that was anti-climatic. If you happen to see this movie come on late at night, run, don't walk, to your tv and change the channel.
