AKA - adventures of Chris Fable (uk)
This film is known as 'Adventures of Chris Fable' here in the UK - available only through Tesco but can i just say do not bother paying the £3. I have seen some really poor films - husband and son love all those really poor B-films - yet this is the really the worst. I realise its based on pilgrims progress but the acting, storyline, effects in fact everything is really poor. I cannot agree with ANY of the previous reviews, maybe i'm not 'christian' enough!! Earlier reviewer said something along lines of 'developing pilgrim progress into action packed film, which is not an easy thing to do - but they've managed!!!' NO THEY HAVEN'T. It actually feels like it was made with a Sunday school, 1 camera and some kid doing special effects on his laptop!!
Worst film ever
I have never seen a more disappointing movie, i bought it from tesco thinking it would be a good children's fantasy adventure but when I started to watch it I realised it was the complete opposite. From the awful actors to the tacky costumes. I haven't got a clue what time zone it is meant to be because most of the adults have old fashion clothing like top hats but then there is robots and modern buildings. Scince when do cowboys happen to have two swords. I know £3 seems cheap but for this movie i felt very ripped of, my family and thought it was made by a drama club with a normal camera. My brother who is 7, my sister who is 10, me 14 and my mum and dad found it funny that it was so rubbish and tacky.
Over an hour of my life wasted
This has got to be one of the worst films I have ever seen in my life, I paid £3 from Tescos for it (I didn't read the previous review before buying)and feel totally conned. I was looking forward to a family action adventure film and got a low budget, new age Christian propaganda sermon in return. I totally agree with the previous review and can only assume that the other reviews are from friends and family of the cast (or same religious group). I can only hope (and pray) that someone reads this review before buying the film and saves themselves the pain of an hour and a half of biblical metaphors.
Slept through the middle but didn't miss anything worthwhile!
I didn't pay a huge amount for this DVD but still think I was ripped off. Yes, I grant that trying to make a modern film version of the Pilgrim's Progress, which after all is over 400 years old, was never going to be easy. However, sadly the message that should have been conveyed was beaten into submission by the truly appalling acting. And as for the "breathtaking" special effects - no one in my family saw any. On the plus side, I went to sleep for about 40 minutes in the middle of the film, thereby wasting less time than the rest of my family. My 6 year old didn't mind it too much, but my 11 year old said it was rubbish. Don't waste your time.
Christian propaganda - going to Charity shop
I just wasted £3 on a movie I was led to believe was similar to Narnia - TESCO LIED TO ME!!!!! Do not under any circumstances EVER buy 'The Adventures of Chris Fable' (also known as The Wyld) unless you want to waste 85 minutes of your life watching Christian propaganda disguising itself as a kids movie! The so called special effects were terrible and the musical score was appalling, I think my 4 year old son could do better with a Video camera and a Fisher Price keyboard!!! Don't get me started on the acting! It was so wooden it was untrue - I've seen better school plays! How I sat through the whole movie I will never know, I guess I was just expecting something to happen, which it didn't. I can honestly say I HATE this movie and it will be going to the Charity shop before my kids ever see it - what a load of rubbish!!!!
