The Darkness and Tom Markos (2012) Reviews
An exciting yet tense short-film about the big guy Devil crashed Andy's draft with no survivors, 4/5 stars
The Darkness and Tom Markos is a simple yet eloquent short film about the day to day struggle of a young couple (Andy and Amber) who are entranced with their romantic relationship, but an inconvenient event occurs where the passionate couple are greeted by none other than 'The Devil' or how he likes to be called, Tom Markos. The titillating tale of an ordinary couple bargaining with the Devil was quite a fascinating idea! I never expected such great lines especially from Tom (the Devil) such as: Tom: "Oh, you think darkness is your ally. But you merely adopted the dark; I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding! The shadows betray you, because they belong to me!" Superb screenplay! This romantic couple's life comes crashing down, with no survivors. Yet when Andy writes Tom a draft for "setting the record straight", Andy asked Tom the Devil some inquisitive questions. Andy asked: "If I pulled off those horns, would you die?" Tom replied: "It would be extremely painful" Andy questioned: "You're a big guy" Tom smugly replied: "For you" ______________________________________________ My brief summary: Pros: + Great screenplay, especially for an indie film. + The film-noir aesthetic was surprisingly pleasant to the eyes and complimented the movie. Cons: Bravo Matt Matzen.
