Movie brought down my IQ
I wasted my time waiting for the film to get good. Watched - On Box Office (DSTV) Acting - (7de laan) style, really predictive bad. Lame quotes, fake fight scene, random moments, out of time moments. Vocals - Something sounded wrong with the vocal recordings. Camera Work - Was done well and creatively. I'm not sure if the producer aimed this movie at the "Sokkie treffer" listeners, 7de laan and Egoli viewers (Soapie) viewers of the country or not. This makes the team brilliant or really amateur. Could have been a really adventurous cool film but failed. Please producers study and apply modern film making and techniques used in American Movies and Ballade vir 'n Enkeling, Wonderwerker etc.
Truly underestimated film!
There have been some negative reviews about this film in the media, but I can assure you, they missed the point! I found the film entertaining at first, but then I started to realize, there's much more than meets the eye! I began to appreciate it! I started to see all the hidden nuances and suggestive hints the film actually had! There are so many send-ups I'm surprised the film got away with it all! It was an interesting look at the white South African archetypes while poking fun at the different stereotypes. I think, to the films own detriment, it was too well hidden for most people to catch the first time around. They played all the send-ups so well that the film was overlooked as 'bad'. People thought the film was conforming to something, while it was actually poking fun at it! One can fault some of the technical aspects at times, but thus is the nature of South African cinema at this point. I hoped the film gets the recognition it deserves one day.
Not as bad as you think.
This is obviously not going to win any awards but if you can see what's going on underneath the surface you'll be surprised. The film has a lot of social commentary while still playing up to the expectations of someone wanting to watch brainless entertainment. I think it's intentionally cliched. Definitely not as bad as I expected.
Terrible
My first ever review should indicate how terrible this is. Wooden acting. This is a cringe fest from start to finish. Bok v Blerk was the only person remotely resembling an actor and he spoke about 20 words throughout the film. Wat n pot nonsens. Kyk eerder vir n muur vir twee ure
