Ms. Leonard did a remarkable job in scripting what surely is incredible frustration for Ms. Pacholok and heart wrenching for the families affected. Annette Mahendru, who portrayed Sally, was sensitive, genuine and amazingly entertaining while delivering a barrage of medical details that brought tears to your eyes and made your blood boil at the same time. I only hope this film can bring about a change in policy and behavior in the medical community the way Erin Brockovich impacted water pollution policy.

Considering its $625k budget it's splendid, because it imparts all the information needed for patients to and doctors. I am one of the lucky who has macrocytic cells and that's what led to my diagnosis of low b12 but I have not had good ongoing support for my care. Even my current hematologist at Vanderbilt U doesn't believe that there's any reason to test MMA unless my serum level is below 300. I wonder if Anet had a personal connection to this story or if she was just hired for an acting job. She certainly did a fantastic job. I recognized her from The Americans.

I give this movie 10 out of 10 - it is not Shakespeare or James Bond but has an important message. Sally would probably drive you mad if you were working with her in a hospital and the movie is a bit like an infomercial pushing a new product. But it may save a few lives and that is the important thing. The number of patients suffering serious B12 deficiency may be small but if this movie causes them to push their doctors to test - then that is great. If you are a doctor you should first read some of the many studies on line from Tufts University and other reputable institutions. Most doctors and hospital administrators won't like this movie but some lawyers will !
