It's the story of two actresses on divergent paths who unwittingly illustrate the power of Fame and its ability to pursue those who run from it and run from those who pursue it. Aesthetically. it's an alchemy of Nathaniel West's The Day of the Locust, The Shadow radio serial, Ralph Ellison's The Invisible Man, and Juergen Teller's Go-See's mixed and sampled to create a sublime cinematic Paul's Boutique for the Era of the Image and beyond.

Nobody Needs to Know (2003) Reviews
The best film I've seen in years
I had the pleasure of seeing this film at a festival in New York and hope that it will somehow be distributed to theaters where everyone can appreciate it. The film is told from the perspective of security cameras located in various points of the city, unraveling a tale of rebellion and breaking out of a mold. The performance by Tricia Vessey (and the other talent as well but her especially) is amazing, the slightest gleam in her eye conveys more emotion and depth on the screen than I've seen in a long time. Part of that is of course enhanced by the amazing cinematography, it's composition, shading, etc. all combine to make each frame incredibly chilling and inspiring at the same time. Jacobs' work is ingenious and anyone who remotely appreciates the art behind film-making should see it and pass it on.
Inspiring.
Last week I saw Nobody Needs To Know at the roxie for the San Francisco indie film festival. A beautiful black and white film with great music. Definitely my story. Just as I was thinking how much this was my personal story, all of a sudden, Iris, the main character, which by the way looks amazing -starts playing the keyboard in one of her moments when shes board not knowing what her purpose in this world is.. I have had so many moment like those but have never seen it in a movie before- when you are stuggling to find yourself , but the movie was also uplifting and very funny. The way the director portrays the nobodys of this world making them pop in and out of the screen was really unique. There was also something about the rythm of the movie that made me feel as if time had slowed down along with the film. I spoke to the producer afterwards and told her how much I liked it, but felt I should also write something here. Great film.
