Maria is more than eighty years old. She comes from an aristocratic family that declined after the war. She lives humbly off a retirement pension, alone in her studio flat. Maria has a secret admirer whom she teaches French. She seems like an ordinary old lady. Yet nobody knows that Maria regularly plays roulette. In her life there is a secret related to gambling... and diamond necklace. I missed this one at Polish Film Festival in Chicago couple weeks ago but it got recommended by few people that i talked to.. So i managed to get a copy Absolutely amazing film. The story is well written, very good acting.. I don't want to spoil the movie but the ending completely broke my heart. This is the most adorable and touching movie, i've seen this year. It might be a little more difficult to understand the main message if you don't understand the situation in Poland... Highly recommended !!!
