Surprisingly good indie film
I went into Masse with reasonable expectations and I was pleasantly surprised. The story took a little while to grab me, but once it did I was totally hooked. It had kept me guessing until the final scene which has it's share of twists itself. Being a pool player I enjoyed the hustling scenes. At times it definitely pays homage to the Hustler, and to a lesser extent the color of Money. Jack, the main character, was only ever really comfortable around the pool table. While not a full on action film, the fight scenes were better than your typical indie fare. One scene in particular that took place in a basement around a pool table was a stand out. There is a fairly graphic sex scene that contains extended nudity. While it does serve the story it may be a bit much for some people. All in all a very enjoyable piece.

I came across this movie and it peeked my curiosity. I have to say it was far better than I expected. I had never heard of any of these actors before but the performances were really good. Jack the main character was a hustler through and through. I think the only person in the entire film that really knows Jack at all is his buddy, Pete. Everyone else seems to only get the version of Jack he wants to show them. It's hard to explain with out spoiling it, but you'll understand once you see it. It tame movie for the most part as the language and violence are not overly harsh. However one sex scene in the film does take it strongly into R rated territory.
