  • very cute movie

Magos y Gigantes is a very cute movie! my children enjoyed it very much. It is a movie for children between the ages of 2 and 8 years old, because the story line is easy to understand with no complicated twists and turns. The most important message of the story are the values of friendship and team work. It teaches children that selfishness is bad, and that you have to stick together for your friends. It even shows them, that sometimes you may be following the "wrong" role model, but that there is always time to mend your way. My sons had a great time, and the music from the group Haash was great! I hope they keep making this kind of films for the whole family!

  • The MAGIC is just starting...

In the last years I started loving so much the animation and I started watching all kinds of animated movies, cartoons etc... From Disney's style of storytelling to the strange world of "The Triplets Of Belleville". Everything I watch was international and the few Mexican animated movies where a little percent Mexican and the rest was Spanish. One day when I was getting out of the movies I watch a Theatrical Poster of "Magos and Gigantes" and at first sight I thought it was another American Movie of another American Studio until last summer I watch the first preview and I notice that it was 100% a Mexican production so I liked it. I watched the movie and I find it good for been a Mexican movie but it wasn't such as good in quality to an American mive but you have to see the great first Mexican 100%work.

It's an original movie and a good effort from Mexico to get into the animated productions. The story is interesting shows you how to be happy with the good things you have and not the one you wish you could have, you'll get everything with hard work developing your abilities. Very sweet and funny characters, Ada, Gigante, Trafalgar, the evil Caradura and memorable minor characters like the penguins, that sequence shows a very hard work from Anima Estudios. There are a few elements that look like were modeled in 3D. Great effort guys, keep on rocking!

  • Nice characters and dialog, poor animation, worse backgrounds

    Masklin82004-10-09

The amazing thing about this movie is that it was made with a very limited crew. Having said that, here are my opinions: 1.- The dialog is funny and the voices great. 2.- The character design, great. The characters are lovable and cute. 3.- The animation is very limited, but that's understandable due the small crew. 4.- The backgrounds are horribly flat and uninspiring. 2D animation doesn't mean you can't use perspective! 5.- The story is derivative and predictable without any depth. Having a low budget is no excuse for having a shallow storyline. This criticism is just to encourage Anima to make better movies and spending more time with the script. I would love to see an animation industry develop in Mexico. --Saludos

Combine lovable characters with great voices and voilá, you have a movie that will fill your kids with magic. Magos y gigantes is the first Mexican movie animated in a very long time, and this is a great new beginning, not a complicated story, well defined characters that make them being different from your normal American movie, it's in 2D (probably a few scenes were modeled in 3D, not sure), Gigante is adorable, Ada might be the girl but she is quite strong, the devilish Caradura and the lovable Mago Trafalgar, he is the BEST! with a french accent and all mischievous, he is the one that kids love the most, his disguises are so creative and make him unique, a great movie for kids, you will enjoy it. :)
