"Hellp" follows an eclectic group of characters whose goal is to stabilize and rebuild a better city out of the rubble left by Hurricane Katrina. The residents interviewed tell story's of a violent police force, lack of outreach from Red Cross, gentrification, an apathetic government and a poorly organized FEMA. To overcome these hurdles, a group of collectives dubbed, "Common Ground" forms to provide immediate and free shelter, food, legal assistance and a medical clinic. This documentary challenges the viewer to see the social injustice and lack of government effectiveness in modern day America and offers an age-old example to remedy the problem.

To be honest...
It's a very moving piece and deserves to be credited for what it is; An amazing documentary. I've seen documentaries on New Orleans by Big ass companies working for Television stations but none were as good as this. This movie is heart-warming and I loved it (in a way that you can love a very,very sad story) Well Done!! I can't wait to see more from you guys! Congratulations! From Your good friend, Blak Tornado.
A powerful and moving testament
Sure, we have all seen the news reports going hysterical during the time. But what was the aftermath, the REAL people that lived there? Hellp is a heck of a testament to all they went through. Not simply sound bites for a receptive audience, Hellp goes to the heart, real people affected and how their lives were overturned forever. The most gut wrenching part for me was a young man, a victim of police brutality. Forever confined to a wheelchair. No more than 16 years old. So much hurt, so much hope. From the horrifying to the rays of hope from volunteers and people willing to work to help out. Hellp is one to be remembered.
