There is nothing like combining a western with existentialism. Bat Masterson (Tom Lagleder) is left for dead when he has an out of body experience. He is visited by Mobius (Paul Tinder) a horrific actor who plays all three roles of the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future. Together they examine Masterson's life, which I didn't know was filled with such bad dialouge. Mobius, as God's messenger, fills Bat with religious philosophy...Life is God's greatest gift. We can be anything we want. We are what choices we make. We shouldn't blame others for our misfortune. We must be responsible for ourselves. (Vote Republican, wink, wink, nudge, nudge.) There were apparently some issues involving the expense of arrows. During an attack by non-Native American looking Indians, a cabin is shot at with arrows. We see 2 arrows actually hit the cabin, or it could be one arrow from two different views. The film constantly uses that scene over and over again, with the ricochet sound of bullets in the background. It was laughably sad in an Ed Wood kind of way. It is tough to sit through. This is a faith based film with a western background. Parental Guide: No adult language, sex, or nudity.

  • Fun with the right expectations

After seeing this film I'm reminded of Matt Stone and Trey Parker's first film "Cannibal he Musical". Not because the subject matter is in any way similar, but the feel, setup and overall production is quite close. Essentially, it's a low budget film that sets out to tell a story many people are already familiar with. Is it a Hollywood blockbuster? No, but it never tries to be. It's simple, quaint, and if you go into it with the right mindset can be very entertaining. I fear that many movie goers might expect "3:10 to Yuma" or "True Grit". But realistically this film is on a different level. It's entertaining for all ages and can be enjoyed by western film buffs. But just bear in mind it's not a John Wayne film.
