Annabelle Hooper and the Ghosts of Nantucket (2016) Reviews
Wonderful family movie!
Watched this movie with my 14 year old daughter and we BOTH loved it! I don't understand the previous review stating there were no ghosts because there were plenty of them throughout the movie. Wonderful acting, writing and directing.
Better than I imagined
Randomly watched this on Netflix and was surprised by how much I ended up loving it. Some of the plot was rather simple to figure out if you watch a lot of mysteries, but it was still a sweet story. I will definitely watch this again and again, and I cannot wait for a sequel.
Bad Acting
I love Ghost stories and while this one could use a little more explaining when it came to following clues, it was a good premise. The two star was for Bailee Madison's acting. Awful. She acted as if she was in a romance film, she was "breathy" (all you could hear was her breathing). She gave these longing looks, her touches, her stares, stances and gestures were just too much for a sixteen year old, and too over the top for the movie and actors of today. It was like1940s kind of overacting. Corny! If I could give minus stars for her acting I would. The other actors were good, a Ted their age and station.
Disappointed by illogical storyline.
I don't understand that Billy goes with the other kids to Silas' house to find out about the Lady in White, then tells them the whole story a day later after they find the hidden bookcase. I know it's a kids movie, but sad that it was so illogical.
Did the ghosts leave Nantucket?...
When I sat down to watch "Annabelle Hooper and the Ghosts of Nantucket" I knew very well that it was going to be a movie that was intended for a much younger audience. But still, I gave it a go, because I had nothing better to do at the time, and I do love watching all kinds of movies. And right indeed, this movie is definitely aimed at a young, possibly early teenage years, audience. And as such, then most of the movie was just lost on me, because I didn't really relate to it, and quite frankly found what was going on less than interesting most of the time. I am sure that "Annabelle Hooper and the Ghosts of Nantucket" does appeal to the age group for which it is intended and aimed at. But for a more mature audience, then this turned out to be a rather mundane and sort of boring movie. And I had initially expected some supernatural things to be going on, given the title of the movie, however that was not really the case. The movie does have some good enough acting performances, but of course, the style of acting and the dialogue is of course aimed specifically at a younger audience. My rating of the movie is a less than mediocre 4 out of 10 stars, as a teenage mystery movie was quite a swing and a miss for my particular taste and preference.
