Angel Azul (2014) Reviews
Beautiful
Beautiful film detailing the work of James deCaires Taylor and his gorgeous works of art to reconstruct the Mesoamerican reef, an area that's been decimated by water pollution and over-development. The film follows the artist as he casts locals to the Yucatan in live molds and then constructs life-size statues out of ph-neutral cement. Meanwhile, experts explain the science behind the deteriorating reefs and a global problem of mistreating our oceans. Throughout, there is incredible under water photography that you cannot miss, showing the statues at their completion as well as the marine life and coral that interact with them. If you love films that are a beautiful blend of science, art, and storytelling, this is a great doc for you.
