When Angie finds out that a customer service representative Diane met over the phone is driving across the country to be her boyfriend, Angie gleefully prepares the audience for a harrowing portrait of female desperation - all the while promising Diane she will be the star of a documentary on finding true love. However once Keith (the mysterious stranger from the Midwest) arrives, all three seem to be competing for the 'desperation' of the film's title!

A Portrait of Female Desperation (2012) Reviews
Absolutely Hilarious - Don't Miss
I caught this on Amazon Prime. It was described as a "mockumentary" and that is exactly what it is, a mock documentary that makes fun of documentaries and the people who make them. Ondine Rarey (Diane) is the unfortunate roommate who becomes the subject of would-be documentarian Alice Boher's (Angie) next film. The film is going to expose how desperate Alice is to have a boyfriend and get married. At the same time, the film shows how desperate Angie is to become a filmmaker. Both actresses are simply wonderful and hilarious as they cut each other to pieces over their obsessions. Kevin Kirkpatrick is also wonderful as the not so desirable boyfriend in the middle. I think filmmakers, film buffs and women desperate for boyfriends will really enjoy this film. I hope that Angie gets a chance to make more films and we get a chance to see them.
