Very nice movie !
"I Believe in Angels" is very nice movie. I saw it on DVD screener a moth ago (with time code under subtitle ;O). I think that this movie is not "festival movie", because it doesn't contain any political intrigues & social background within (World Wide Festivals love those themes, as far as I know ...). But, audience will adore this movie, surely ! "I Believe in Angels" reminds me to Mediterraneo and Fellini's movies, resulting in feeling-good-mood after watching it :O) !!! Actors are very good, I think that some of them could have international carrier (beautiful leading role girl Dea (Lubmesa) and postman Sime (Milkota). All in all - great, not pretentious, picturesque movie.
Very nice and sweet movie ! ... the real "Croatian Mediterraneo" ...
I had opportunity to see movie as a tourist at premiere in Komiza(Island Vis), which is original filming location. I really enjoyed in movie. The idea of the movie is very intelligent and it is based on true story (ok, I will stop now ... spoiler!)... Dolores Lambasa in not my "pair of shoes", but I have to admit that she is absolutely superb in this movie. Her metamorphoses, from poor kid to a "femme fatal" impressed me. The postman Sime (Mlikota)is genius, he acts so easily and so brilliant that I really dunno why doesn't he act more regularly in Croatian movies. I am sure that audience will love "I Believe Angels", because it is simply - beautiful movie !!! Regards Omar
Finally very nice Croatian movie without war and social issues !!!
Finally very nice Croatian movie without war and social issues! I really enjoyed watching this movie this summer in Pula (Istria) amphitheater. It is relaxing, nice, smooth, funny and it is sooo different then vast majority of Croatian film ... The movie plot is very interesting, about postman who reads other people mails. That idea is not brand new but author is very good "story teller" and all movie is kind of Chabrol's late works. I've been filmophile for more than 35 years and the best recommendation for this movie is a fact that this one is one out of three "domestic" movies I wanted to watch again (and I did it with my wife and kids ;O) (only "Tko pjeva zlo ne misli" and "Prije kie" had that privilege 'till now!). Very nice job indeed !!!
Croatian "Il Postino" with a twist.
Imagine a Croatian "Il Postino" with a twist! A curious mailmen ime (Vedran Mlikota) is one of the favourite persons of a small town, on an island in the middle of the sea. Sime is very cunning as he knows the weather forecast, what winds will blow, what the sermon on the Sunday mass will be as he has perfected a way for opening and closing the letters. That gives him insight into discrete and private affairs of people. One day a stunning woman named Dea (Dolores Lambaa) moves into the town and all the men in the town start with the classic Mediterranean courtship because she is attractive and desirable. ime is one of them and the more time he spends with Dea the more he likes her. In the last part of the film we find out what Dea is really like and we realise that all along she had a hidden plan which brings an unbelievable last minute twist at the end of the film
