Crossland: Watchable, I suppose
Crossland otherwise known as Terror is a English independent horror movie that was my nightly pick & mix watch therefore I went in knowing nothing about it. Logging onto IMDB the next day I was immediatly hit by the first review claiming it was "One of the worst films ever". I hate seeing that claim, it makes me think that the person hasn't seen enough movies. For me to give a film a 1 means it's devoid of a single redeeming feature and that's rare and even then it doesn't mean I'd class it as "One of the worst films ever". Well it's not a 1 by any means, it's hardly groundbreaking but it's a perfectly watchable effort. It tells the story of a jogger who tresspasses through private farmland when he begins to feel like he's being watched. Before he knows it he is partnered with another jogger with the same problem, but is everything as it seems? The concept behind Crossland is actually quite original, the execution of it however is spotty at best. It looks good but feels amateurish especially due to the sound quality and mediocre quality actors. Passable stuff but mostly due to the premise. The Good: Fairly original stuff The Bad: Some of the sound balancing is off Dreadful acting in places Things I Learnt From This Movie: I think Helen was actually drunk during the filming of this movie
Terrible ! One of the worst films ever
I love horrors. Love British horror films But this is so so so bad. I can't work out whether they've made it bad intentionally. Some of the acting of the older couple are the worst I've seen in years. It's like they picked them up off the street. Honestly At first it shows potential at the start. You think the main actor is bad, again wait till you hear the couple or the older bald guy near the end. I had to create this account just to say how bad this film is. Why the director chose these local farmers who couldn't act is unreal. Surely he shouldn't ever direct a film ever again Strangely enough it's so badly acted it's worth checking it out just to see how bad the acting is. We're they trying for a strange 'simple' type of British 'hillbilly' people ? How on earth they got the role I'll never know So yeah it's shocking how bad it is. It's nearly worth talking to a small claims court for the 4 quid I paid for this on iTunes.
Interesting independent
I really enjoyed this movie, Henderson a really over the top terrible review I read before purchasing it, so must be a preference thing. Some really interesting and gripping ideas, although the plot is a bit unclear here and there but it makes up for its gripping and interesting twists throughout that finally gives it some sense and makes it unique. Worth a watch if you appreciate independent films set in the outback. There are differences in this movie compared with other movies set in the outback so another reason to view. I purchased this from iTunes and it is also available on Amazon instant video. It is not a bloody horror it is more an intriguing piece of work with some good thrilling action!
Awful
This movie is awful. There's your one-word summary, just to be clear... AWFUL. Not, "oh, it's so scary, it's awful" awful, or "the gore is awful" awful, but "dreadfully bad, ill-conceived, complete disaster, bore fest" awful. The plot is laughable... the whole crazy redneck abduction killing thing is played out anyway, and in this case, so poorly done that you'll either find yourself laughing about it all, or cringing (I was cringing). To be fair, Sherine Chalhie does a decent job, seeming way above the others in the film in acting ability... the others are local theater group level, if that. I watched this for free on Amazon Prime, and still like I paid too much... I'll never get that wasted time back.
