Attraction (2018) Reviews
Poor acting and even poorer plot
I love Bulgarian cinema and was very disappointed by this film. Yana Marinova's acting is poor and unconvincing. The constant focus on the girl's half-naked bodies dressed in "school uniforms" verges on pornography. There is very obvious advertising of cigarettes and alcohol throughout the film, and what is worse is that the vodka and cigarettes advertised are being consumed by students. I can't think of any Western developed country where this would be allowed. The teachers are portrayed as corrupt and unboundaried, and the students - as spoiled brats. Quite frankly, I felt like walking out a few times and I'm not sure why I didn't.
A True Art Piece
A 500.000USD budget(?) and if true, well learn that Hollywood needs 300.000.000USD to create half the quality. From the plot, to the decors, the amazing special effects, the role play and acting, the light, frame and mixing, this movie is a must be watch. Don't fell for the eternal "Anti Russian" propaganda and enjoy this down to earth Master Piece.
Attraction - a realistic movie about the lost Bulgarian young generation
Attraction is surely an interesting movie with a clear plot - it presents the life of the young history teacher Lora Angelova, who struggles to cope with the problems at her school. Most of her students are arrogant, interested only in money and relationships. They lie and act like bullies during the whole film - you will probably hate almost all of the young characters in the film. What I disliked in this movie is that they did not change their behaviour at the end - they stayed the same "cool" guys with the same value system. I give this 7/10 mostly because it is a Bulgarian film, I support the Bulgarian cinema, but I would like to see a movie which shows the bright side of our new generation. There are young people who have other values, support their parents and their teachers, study really hard in order to have a happy life, understand the real meaning of the word "love".
